Do you take insurance?

I prioritize providing personalized, high-quality care tailored to each patient’s needs. To maintain this standard, I do not work directly with insurance companies. However, I can provide a detailed superbill outlining the services rendered, which you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits and deductible. While I am out-of-network, I dedicate 20% of my practice to sliding scale patients to ensure affordability and access for those in need. I’m also happy to assist you in navigating the reimbursement process with Reimbursify and your insurance provider.

What is the difference between a Psychiatrist and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The main difference between a psychiatrist and a psychiatric nurse practitioner is their educational background and the scope of practice. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health, able to diagnose and treat mental illnesses through medication management, therapy, and other medical interventions. They have undergone extensive medical training, including medical school and residency.

On the other hand, a psychiatric nurse practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in psychiatric and mental health care. They can assess, diagnose, and treat mental health disorders, provide therapy and counseling, and prescribe medications within their scope of practice.

While both professionals work in mental health care, psychiatrists have a broader medical background, whereas psychiatric nurse practitioners bring their nursing expertise and often take a holistic and patient-centered approach.

What is Integrative Psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry takes a holistic approach to mental health by addressing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. This approach seeks to minimize the reliance on medications when possible, balancing their benefits with potential risks. By combining traditional psychiatric treatments with complementary therapies, integrative psychiatry emphasizes a comprehensive path to wellness.

This includes incorporating nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and other evidence-based mind-body practices, as well as lifestyle modifications like improved sleep, stress management, and healthy habits. Complementary approaches such as yoga, meditation, and supplements are also integrated into treatment plans where appropriate.

In addition to traditional psychotropic medications, integrative psychiatry includes interventions like supplementation, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and more, while highlighting the healing power of relationships and the connection between mind, body, and environment. While psychotropics are valuable in certain cases, integrative psychiatry embraces a broader range of options tailored to individual needs.

Why work with you rather someone who takes my insurance?

Insurance often restricts and dictates the care you receive, regardless of your unique needs. My approach stands apart from traditional psychiatric care by focusing on a holistic, individualized process. Restoring balance requires time, effort, and genuine care, and I am dedicated to guiding and supporting you not just during active treatment but beyond. Together, we will create tailored treatment plans and goals that address your mind, body, and environment, ensuring your needs are truly met.

What forms of payment do you accept, and when is it due?

I accept HSA/FSA cards and all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Amex. Cash and personal checks are also welcome. Payment is due at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

For clients seeking insurance reimbursement, I provide detailed superbills outlining the services rendered. I’m happy to assist with the reimbursement process through tools like Reimbursify or by guiding you in working with your insurance company.

Where do you see patients?

I am licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. As per licensing regulations, patients must be located within the Tri-State area. This is a hybrid telemedicine practice, offering both virtual and in-person appointments. In-person visits are available to meet DEA requirements for prescribing controlled medications. For non-controlled medication management, face-to-face telemedicine interactions are required.

While I offer virtual consultations, I prefer to see clients in person for the initial visit. This allows me to conduct a thorough evaluation, including obtaining baseline vitals and weight, ensuring we begin with accurate health information to guide your care.

Do you see children and adolescents?

I specialize in helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate the unique challenges of growing up in today’s world. From academic pressures and social media influences to bullying, neglect, abuse, and complex family dynamics, young people face stressors that can significantly impact their mental and emotional well-being.

The pandemic has further amplified these challenges, leaving many feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and without timely support. Unfortunately, the demand for mental health services often exceeds availability, with some waiting months just to see a therapist.

My passion lies in supporting this vulnerable population by providing compassionate, timely care. I work closely with children, teens, and their families to build healthy coping strategies, improve communication, and foster resilience. By addressing their mental health needs, I aim to empower them to thrive despite life’s challenges.

How do I get the process Started?

Taking the first step is often the hardest, but reaching out is an important milestone. This initial consultation will help us determine our compatibility and the best approach to addressing your mental health needs. After our phone consultation, and if we mutually agree that our collaboration is a good fit, we’ll schedule your first appointment.

Appointments can be conducted in person or via telepsychiatry, based on your preference. Prior to the appointment, you’ll receive patient forms and questionnaires, which should be completed at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a smooth and productive session

Where do appointments take place?

I offer most appointments virtually through a secure and confidential video platform. To be eligible for virtual appointments, you must reside in the Tri-State area. For those who prefer an in-person experience, I also see clients at my Brooklyn office, conveniently located in Park Slope.

Evening and weekend appointments are available upon special request to accommodate your schedule
